Activites and experiences in the neighbourhood

Our AuroraHuts are eco-luxury igloo boats situated on Lake Västra Silen in the municipality of Årjäng near Nordmarkens Canoe Center, and on Lake Ringsjön in Blommeröd, Höör municipality. The proximity to nature means there are plenty of activities and experiences to enjoy during your stay.

In Höör:

Summer

Rowboat
At the site of our igloos there are some  rowboats that you can borrow for romantic excursions on the lake.

Stand-up paddle boarding
Each of our igloos In Höör have a complementary stand-up paddle board.

Climbing
There are options of climbing in a driving distance from Höör. If you are interested check in with us to learn more about potential locations.

Hiking
Our accommodation in an area which used to belong to a nearby castle and convent and close by a nature reserve. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or simply prefer a casual stroll, the area offers numerous trails suitable for various activity levels. 

Swimming
Since our igloos are located on the water, swimming is a must. The water is sparkling clear and clean. 

Fishing
It’s possible to go fly fishing and we recommend going by the rowing boat available to the igloo. Check in with us about potentially needing a fishing license. 

Bird watching
Since we are located close to a nature reserve, the options of bird watching are numerous. Skåne is the place to spot several rare birds of prey, however more often spotted during the colder months.

Polo
We are also home to Blommeröd Hästsport Center – one of the few equestrian facility in Scania that organizes polo training and matches. Send us an email if you would like to time your stay with a picnic on the grounds and experiencing a polo match/training. Polo Season is in june-august.

Golf/footgolf
Our neighbor is Bosjökloster Golfklubb. 

Visiting our local castle
We are located right next to Bosjö Kloster, which is now home to a museum and petting zoo. The castle organizes tours and events. 

ZOO
In the nearby Skånes Djurpark is situated.

Hidden gem
On the other side of the lake you can visit Björk’s Ringsjön Fiskbutik och Rökeri. 

Winter

Skiing
If the weather allows  it is possible to go skiing on the property or lake.

Ice skating
If the weather allows  it is possible to go ice skating on the lake.

Hiking
Our accommodation in an area which used to belong to a nearby castle and convent and close by a nature reserve. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or simply prefer a casual stroll, the area offers numerous trails suitable for various activity levels. 

Ice/ winter bathing
Research into the health benefits of winter bathing indicate benefits including lower risk of infections, reduced inflammation and better stress control. It is therefore a great idea to go for a swim, even in the colder months. Combine with a warm cup of tea or coffee and warm up inside our comfy igloos.

Fishing
In winter fly fishing is mainly possible from the shore, so don’t forget waders or rubber boots. You can rent equipment from us, and please check in with us on whether you’ll need a fishing license.

Bird watching
Since we are located close to a nature reserve, the options of bird watching are numerous. Skåne is the place to spot several rare birds of prey, especially during the cold season. They thrive on the mild winter climate and small game. 

Visiting our local castle
We are located right next to Bosjö Kloster, which is now home to a museum and petting zoo. On specific days in December the castle organizes a Christmas market.

In Värmland:

Summer

Rowboat
Each out of our igloos comes with a connected rowboat for a romantic excursion on the lake.

Canoeing
Our location in Värmland is also home to Nordmarkens Canoe Center and the location is unique in the way that the sparkling offers many different canoe routes from trips spanning multiple days to a quick one hour excursion. Check in with us if you would like to rent a canoe or you’re looking for recommendations for routes. 

Hiking
Our igloos are located in a beautiful forest and Lake Vestra Silen there are therefore numerous options for hiking for different levels of difficulty and length. Check in with us if you need recommendations for the area.

Biking 
We rent out mountain bikes and organize bike excursions. 

Wilderness bath
Located close by our igloos is a wilderness bath. If you’re interested in booking our wilderness bath, please contact us in advance, as it takes about a day to heat up. It is an experience we highly recommend—soaking in the water with temperatures of about 35-40 degrees and taking in the quiet forest around you or the starry sky above. Combine the warm temperatures with a cold dip in the lake or a trip to the sauna.

Sauna
Located close to our igloos is a sauna. If you’re interested in booking our sauna, please contact us in advance, as it takes about a day to heat up. Many argue that saunas have multiple benefits, one we know to be true: relaxation, and we recommend combining the sauna with a cold dip in the lake directly from the terrace of your igloo accommodation.

Swimming
The terrace of our igloos is equipped with a ladder, perfect for starting the day with an early morning dip or going for a sunset swim in the crystal clear and clean lake.

Fishing
There are multiple options for fly fishing in our area. You venture out by rowboat, canoe or even hike to a good spot on the shore. Rent fishing equipment from us and check in with us on whether you’ll need a fishing license.

Many argue that saunas have multiple benefits, one we know to be true: relaxation, and we recommend combining the sauna with a cold dip in the lake. You’ll find a path to the lakeshore right next to the sauna area.

Fishing
There are multiple options of fly fishing in the area. In the deep winter, the lake will be frozen, check in with us before venturing out due to safety concerns. In the fall and spring you’ll have the options of venturing out via the rowboat connected to the igloo or renting a canoe. You can rent fishing equipment from us.
